Greenwich Police arrested a Jersey City, NJ man on Sept 17 after being contacted by a victim about a scam.
Police said the victim began being contacted by a group of criminals working to defraud people via phone.
Through an elaborate vishing (voice phishing) scheme he was defrauded into providing $25,000 in cash to a money courier.
After the victim contacted police, they were able to arrange for a controlled meet on Sept 17 with the courier responding to pick up the gold.
Upon his arrival he was identified as Hriday Arya, 25, and placed under arrest.
