The facility aims to supply reliable power for gold-mining activities. Wärtsilä has entered into a five-year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement with Boto, a subsidiary of the Moroccan mining group Managem. This agreement involves managing a 23MW captive power plant at the Boto Gold Project located in eastern Senegal. This facility will supply reliable power for gold-mining activities in a remote, off-grid location, supporting Senegal’s mining and energy sector. In compliance with Senegalese regulations, mining companies are required to operate their own power generation facilities in such areas, necessitating reliable energy solutions for industrial growth.
