Three soldiers of the Nigerian Army have been sentenced to jail after they were found guilty of illegally dealing in arms and ammunition. The soldiers, Sergeant Raphael Ameh, Sergeant Ejiga Musa, and Lance Corporal Patrick Ocheje, were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Delivering judgment, the president of the court-martial, Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullahi, however, handed a 15-year jail term to Corporal Omitoye Rufus. He worked with police officers to conceal weapons in bags of beans and smuggle them to Enugu and Ebonyi for criminals. Records showed he collected more than ₦500,000 from the transactions before he was arrested while attempting to sell more ammunition.
