According to WAPT, Williams-Till announced that she would be running as a Democrat, challenging Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith in the 2026 election, which is scheduled for November 3. “I am running for United States Senator to help shape and enact laws that promote social justice and civil rights protections at a national level in Mississippi,” Williams-Till said at her campaign launch. She said her leadership in advocating for federal accountability in hate crimes and racial justice cases has prepared her for national office. Williams-Till joins an increasingly competitive race that includes Ty Pinkins, who is running as an independent, and Democratic prosecutor Scott Colom, who announced his candidacy earlier this month.
