Last month, Ipswich Borough Council received plans to convert the Great White Horse Hotel in Tavern Street into 21 flats. Planning documents said this proposal "seeks to secure the long-term future of the building through sensitive conversion that respects its historic significance while providing viable uses." They said: "The Great White Horse has seen a long process of decline in the hotel and hospitality parts of the complex and the retail premises have also become vacant. The Great White Horse is included in the Heritage at Risk register.
