Before Ipswich Crown Court is Elliott Mallett of Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, who has denied attempting to murder Sharon Farthing on December 7 and aggravated burglary. During his trial Mallett denied that he was the person who entered Ms Farthing’s home in Admiral Close, Ipswich, on December 7 and stabbed her eight times. Cross-examined by prosecution counsel, Edward Renvoize, he denied a suggestion that he’d broken into the address to steal and had panicked when she saw him. He also denied he had stabbed 48-year-old Ms Farthing enough times to make sure she died and wouldn’t be able to talk about the incident. The jury retired to consider its verdicts on Monday afternoon ( September 22) and is expected to return to court to continue its deliberations on Tuesday ( September 23).
