Initially, elected members were asked to 'note and consider' the findings of a hearing held by the Standards Commission for Scotland with regards to Cllr Reid. The sanction was made after an independent panel found that the elected member had breached two parts of the Councillors' Code of Conduct. When elected members were asked to note the paper, an amendment was brought forward by Conservative group leader Cameron Inglis. He also moved that elected members should ask the chief executive to write to Cllr Reid asking him to consider position as chair of council's Police Fire and Rescue Committee as well as vice-chair of Audit and Scrutiny Committee. The council leader also highlighted that the motion was not asking for further sanction and merely sought for Cllr Reid to consider his actions further.
