Running from September 22 to October 5, the campaign calls on communities to support farmers and workers in developing countries by choosing Fairtrade products. North Ayrshire has been recognised as a Fair Trade Zone since 2014. Charles Currie, Arran councillor, said: "North Ayrshire became a Fair Trade Zone in 2014 and I am pleased to support this year’s Fair Trade Fortnight. North Ayrshire Council works with the North Ayrshire Fair Trade Zone Group to promote the scheme in the community. Arran is also recognised as a Fairtrade Island, while Kilwinning holds Fairtrade Town status.
