The Ashcroft family became well known as the owner of the Pet’s Emporium business in St Helens before the couple both embarked on careers in local politics. Tributes were paid to her at last week's meeting of St Helens Council. Alison Hughes wrote: "I worked with Nancy at St Helens Council. Former mayor of St Helens, Councillor Sue Murphy wrote: "Nancy was a true lady, she was beautiful inside and out and will be missed in St Helens." A celebration of her life will be held at Windle Bowling Club , Hard Lane, St Helens from 1pm.
