One of the organisers of the Soothend Gaza Solidarity Walk, local Green councillor Alex Armitage, said his ward between Gulberwick in the north and Sumburgh in the south was roughly the same size as the Gaza strip.
“Though Shetland is far away from Gaza, we are all connected,” he said, adding that the walk represents the long, treacherous journeys that many Palestinian civilians have been forced to make.
“This famine and genocide taking place in Gaza represents a key test of our humanity.
The Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) is a charity headquartered in Los Angeles that provides medical and humanitarian relief for Palestinian children.
So far more than £5,000 have been raised.
