First Bus reduces its services every winter due to demand and additional services are normally then subsidised by Dorset Council. Just last week Dorset Council said the subsidy being asked for by First was 'significantly higher' than last year and that it could not meet the request. Announcing that arrangements had been agreed to restore the core winter timetable, the bus operator and the council appear to have resolved the problem at the last minute. Stuart Palmer, chair of the Dorchester Transport Action Group, said: "Obviously we are delighted that Dorset Council has seen sense. "The worrying thing is there is no timescale for the winter service to be reinstated.
