The 21-year-old twice broke his own European record on day three of the championships to claim the bronze medal in the men’s 100m breaststroke sb14 final. The sb14 category is for swimmers who have an intellectual impairment and Stewart is eligible due to having Asperger’s. Stewart is not done yet at this year’s championships with a spot in the mixed 4x100m medley relay on Friday. The British team is in red hot form and is expected to compete for the gold medal and could set a new world record in the pool later this week. The bronze medal is now Stewart’s second on the international stage having scooped a gold medal at the 2024 World Para Swimming European Open Championships in Madeira last year.
