The 25th summit of the 20 heads of state and government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Tianjin, China, near Shanghai, on August 31 and September 1. The SCO is now the most important international organization. Speaking at the event, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who held the rotating chairmanship of the SCO, stressed that it should contribute to the preservation of peace, global stability and common values of mankind. He introduced three major platforms for China-SCO cooperation in energy, green industry and digital economy, and the establishment of three major cooperation centers for scientific and technological innovation, higher education, and vocational and technical education. Xi Jinping proposed the "Global Governance Initiative" (GGI), while stressing the need to retain the status and authority of the UN.
