On Saturday evening the Brown County Museum of History hosted the “Victory at Last Gala” at the Brownwood Event Center. The gala celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Allies victory in World War II, with special recognition of Camp Bowie in Brown County, and numerous World War II veterans from the Central Texas area. Museum Vice-President Beverly Blake Norris explained the inspiration for the event: “Patriotism is a major focus at the Museum. We have a large World War II Camp Bowie exhibit. Knowing that this is the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we really wanted to share that.
