Food insecurity affects every community in the Unites States, and last year 50 million Americans turned to food banks for vital assistance – more than at any point over the last decade. In support of Hunger Action Month, Atmos Energy has donated $750,000 to food banks across the eight states it serves. “Food banks like Bangs Food Pantry play a critical role in this community by offering access to fresh food as well as essential services such as nutrition education, advocacy, and assistance programs that address the root causes of hunger,” said Public Affairs Manager Molly Turk. Among the many energy assistance agencies receiving funds is Coleman’s Cornerstone Community Action Agency, whose mission is to build thriving and self-sufficient communities by creating equal opportunities for all individuals and families.
