The Brookesmith Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) hosted its 25th+ Annual Fish Fry and Dessert Auction on Saturday evening at the Brookesmith Community Center, drawing more than 250 attendees and raising over $20,000 in support of local emergency services. This long-standing tradition has become a staple event for Brookesmith, Brookesmith ISD, and the surrounding communities, bringing people together for good food, fellowship, and a shared purpose: supporting their local volunteer fire department. The event featured a full meal catered by Boondocks of Brady, Texas, including fried fish, chicken strips, and traditional sides. One of the highlights of the evening was the dessert auction, which generated a substantial portion of the funds raised. Among the standout items was a quilt donated by Theresa Bomstad McIntosh, which sold for $500 during the auction.
