Stephanie Sandercock was packing away her exhibition paintings in the car park outside the Crypt Gallery in St Ives when the theft took place. She believes the thief was likely an “opportunist” who saw the painting and decided to snatch it. [The painting] was left in there for literally minutes before it was taken. “We didn’t notice [it had been stolen] at first because we were just stacking the paintings up,” Stephanie explained.
