Donald Trump’s justice department has asked a judge to shut down a Vermont law which holds major polluters financially responsible for climate damages. In an April executive order, Trump instructed the justice department to “stop the enforcement” of climate superfund policies. Legislators in at least a dozen states are looking to introduce or reintroduce climate superfund bills in 2026, he said.
