Electric provider Pacific Power is hoping to meet that demand by building new distribution-level substations in Redmond and Bend, and upgrading more than a dozen smaller stations across Central Oregon. Pacific Power expects construction to be complete and the system to be brought online by early 2028. According to Simon Gutierrez — communications specialist for PacifiCorp, parent company of Pacific Power — Central Oregon has seen load growth increase by 30-40 percent since 2020. The company is also working to build a large power line project connecting Klamath Falls and Central Oregon. Currently, Pacific Power has about 106,000 customers in Central Oregon, ranging from Warm Springs to Bend.
