Herringbone Books owner Brandon Weimer said that because Redmond lacks a dedicated secondhand book shop, he often hears from folks downsizing an old collection or cleaning up after an estate sale. He said one single collector was looking to get rid of 8,000 titles. So in 2023, he decided to rent a storage space and collect the donations. Once the storage space filled up, Weimer organized a massive giveaway to empty the shelves. He said people are encouraged to bring bags or suitcases to haul out their treasures — or can even wheel them out in a wheelbarrow.
