Firefighters were called to an address in Witham yesterday to rescue Peggy the parrot after she decided to wing it on her very first flight. The young bird found herself stuck up on a tree, too scared to get down. Specially trained animal rescue crews swooped in to Webb Court, Witham, at 10:15am after residents were unable to coax Peggy down. Crews 'squawked' about it and used an Aerial Ladder Platform to reach Peggy safely and reunite her with her owner by 11:39am.
