State Rep. Francesca Hong, who lives in the liberal capital city of Madison, is embracing her outsider status. In addition to serving in the state Assembly, Hong works as a bartender, dishwasher and line cook. Berrien said Hong’s “socialist ideology gives Wisconsin voters a clear choice in the battle between the builders and the bureaucrats.” Schoemann didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment. That includes backing universal child care, paid leave, lower health care costs, improving wages for in-home health care workers and adequately funding public schools. Like other Democrats in the race, Hong is highly critical of President Donald Trump’s administration and policies.
