The administration at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have been ordered to pause the axing of 150 jobs by SafeWork NSW.
The job cuts were deemed to pose “serious and imminent risk of psychological harm”.
The prohibition will remain in place until Safework is satisfied that UTS executives have implemented adequate safety measures.
In 2024, UTS reported a $78 million deficit from which it is now attempting to recover via widespread cuts.
The UTS branch of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) held a rally on 30th August to protest against these job cuts.
