As a child, I didn’t understand the story of Cain and Abel.
The pair were the first born sons of Adam and Eve: Cain a farmer, and Abel a shepherd.
Cain was the first human to be born, and Abel the first to die.
I thought Cain was a fool: how could someone be so jealous as to kill their own brother, and face a curse so terrible?
But maybe, maybe I was too content alone.
