Essex County Council's campaign encourages companies to donate old devices, which will be given to children across the county who lack access to digital tools. The scheme aims to address digital exclusion, with one in five Essex residents currently offline due to a lack of technology, connectivity, or digital skills. Louise McKinlay, deputy leader and councillor responsible for communities, economic growth, and prosperity at Essex County Council, said: "The device donation campaign is helping more people get online by repurposing unused tech from local businesses. The donated devices will be distributed to children in Essex, including those receiving benefits such as free school meals. "By donating unused devices, businesses are helping to remove barriers and open doors for children who might otherwise be left behind."
