The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has the constitutional authority to manage this system and to protect it from political interference. The board appointed him as interim chancellor and briefly as interim president at Bismarck State College. If the board makes this appointment, it will further demonstrate that it does not support the essential values of higher education and is unwilling to protect it from political interference. North Dakota deserves a qualified Chancellor to oversee our 11 campuses and a board that is committed to protecting and preserving a high-quality system of higher education for our state.
