Ghana’s Minority group in parliament has accused the government of engaging in an illegality by disbursing an IMF fund without the consent of the legislature.
The Minority in a press conference on Tuesday, led by their spokesperson on Finance Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei demanded that the action of the IMF should freeze.
Ghana’s three year arrangement for over $900 million was approved by the IMF board on April, 3, 2015.
On September 1, 2015 the IMF board completed its review of Ghana’s economic performance under the programme.
They first released about $114 million and later, $116 million after assessing how Ghana was performing.
