Propaganda’s mixed response to Russia’s provocation against Poland
['Adam Reichardt']
New Eastern Europe
Propaganda’s mixed response to Russia’s provocation against Poland The incursion of Russian drones and missiles into Polish airspace echoes the “ikhtamnet” tactic, a sarcastic term for a Russian soldier or mercenary whose deployment abroad is denied by the Kremlin, a strategy long tested in Ukraine and now evident here.
NATO has not classified the incident as a direct Russian attack on a member state.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace as an extremely dangerous precedent for Europe.
Today marked yet another escalatory step –Russian-Iranian Shaheds operated in Polish airspace, within NATO territory,” he stated.
The first narrative denies that the drones were Russian, asserting that Poland is “crying wolf” despite no apparent threat.
