The commercial vehicle chain law enforcement operation is planned on I-70 near Dotsero, according to a news release.
Under state law, all commercial motor vehicles are required to carry chains from Sept. 1 to May 31.
For not complying with the commercial vehicle chain law, drivers can be fined up to $500.
During inclement weather, it is not possible to conduct proactive chain checks because troopers are focused on responding to calls for service, according to the State Patrol.
