Last night at Brooklyn Steel, Manchester, England’s Elbow returned to NYC for the first time since 2017, supporting excellent 2024 LP Audio Vertigo, and founding members Guy Garvey vocals, Craig Potter keyboards/backing vocals & brother Mark Potter guitar/backing vocals, Pete Turner on hypnotic bass, & longtime touring drummer/new member Alex Reeves, delivered a sonic spectacle that enveloped the capacity crowd in dynamic mood shifts that inspired spontaneous singalongs and even a call-and-response whistling (!), which Garvey welcomed and conducted, a remarkable reception for a group that has only had one charting U.S. single since their first release in 1997.
