Poway Unified School District trustees are starting to talk about the possibility of a bond measure that would help raise funds for an estimated $1.78 billion in needed facilities upgrades. Trustees began to weigh their options for a facilities bond in the roughly $400 million to $600 million range at a Monday workshop with staff. During the meeting, trustees are expected to discuss an agreement with a consultant that would do research on the feasibility of a bond measure. The Nov. 3, 2026 general election bond proposal would identify the greatest facilities needs with the highest likelihood of voter approval, they said at the workshop. Next year’s election also gives the district time to write the ballot measure proposal and communicate the plan for facilities improvements to the public, they said.
