A 25-year-old man was charged Tuesday with running over a bicyclist in Westminster. Alexis Jareth Ruiz was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies. Ruiz also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, inflicting great bodily injury, personal use of a deadly weapon and gang activity. He is accused of contacting the man before he attacked him, police said. Police recovered the suspect vehicle about a half-mile away later the day of the attack, authorities said.
