An encampment sweep of the unsheltered, posted as a trespass and property removal by the city of Vallejo, began on Tuesday morning in downtown moving at least three tents from the premises along with at least seven citizens. The removal took place at the location listed as Mare Island Way and Santa Clara Street, between Maine and Capitol Streets. Later in the day an elderly woman was removed from her tent near City Hall and the JFK Library. The unsheltered belongings were impounded, but those wanting to keep their items can pick them up until Jan, 2 according to a posting by the city of Vallejo. Peterson said she is working with Vallejo City Manager Andrew Murray, Vallejo City Attorney Veronica Nebb, and the city’s Public Works and Police Department with the removals.
