A chemical release inside a factory restroom in Hebi, China, erupted, killing five people and hospitalized three others, local authorities told Xinhua News Agency.
At approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, a sulfuric acid storage tank leaked at the Hexin Chemical Industry Co., which based in the Shancheng district, Xinhua reported.
The leak entered the factory's stormwater system and then a septic tank and formed hydrogen sulfide gas.
The factory stopped operations and evacuated personnel from the site.
The district's emergency management bureau said on Tuesday, according to Xinhua, that two of the people in the hospital suffered minor injuries, while one is in stable condition.
