At around 1pm on Sunday, fire crews were called to the incident on Manchester Road. It involved a car colliding with a stationary vehicle. But during the crash, a gas line was damaged, leading to the evacuation of nearby properties as a precaution. Crews used gas monitoring equipment to check levels and ensure the area remained safe until the gas company arrived. Two fire engines attended, one from Stockton Heath and one from Warrington.
