It was proposed by Conservative Cllr Rob Tynan, who serves Rixton and Woolston, and seconded by Reform UK’s Cllr John Roddy, who serves Bewsey and Whitecross. Cllr Tynan, who is Warrington’s only Conservative councillor, said: “Labour had a choice – back the residents of Warrington or back the people smugglers. Our residents were never asked if they wanted hotels turned into migrant hostels – it was just done. And yet Labour thinks they should get hotels, while families in Warrington wait years for housing. If you believe in putting Warrington residents first, then it’s time to send Labour a message and vote Conservative at the next election.”
