The site is historically significant, with Lord’s Mill recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Although the mill itself no longer stands, the weir and sluice remain highly visible to those entering Chesham from Waterside. Plans for a new fish pass have been developed by the Chilterns Chalk Streams Project in partnership with Affinity Water. The scheme would adapt the old mill channel into a series of pools, enabling fish to swim upstream once again. The authority has agreed in principle to take on ownership of the structure, subject to satisfactory investigations.
