Thomas Hearn, 35, will participate in the challenge between October 1 and October 5, with all the money going towards Crohn’s & Colitis UK. The runner was 16 when he received the life-changing diagnosis of Colitis, a lifelong type of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which, according to charity Crohn's & Colitis UK, currently affects over 500,000 people across the UK. Following his operation, Thomas said: "I was rushing back and forth to the toilet and losing so much blood. “The freedom and control I have been able to reclaim have been incredible." He is now taking on the momentous 'It Takes Guts 200' challenge to test his physical and mental strength, all in aid of charity Crohn's & UK.
