Leonard Sykes, 73, of Notton Park, Lacock, pleaded guilty to being the owner in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury at Swindon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 24. The court heard that on April 3 of this year, the pensioner's rottweiler dog named Lola was so dangerously out of control in Thingley Caravan Park, Chippenham, that it ended up injuring a woman. After Sykes pleaded guilty, the hearing was adjourned to allow the probation service to complete a pre-sentence report about the defendant, which will help the magistrates to decide his penalty. A contingent destruction order will be considered at the next hearing, which will determine whether Sykes can keep Lola and if so which conditions she will be subject to. The 73-year-old has been remanded on unconditional bail ahead of his sentencing at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 30.
