Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Mike Mposha, says young people must strive to create their own businesses instead of waiting for government to employ them. “I implore the youths, especially here in my constituency, Munali, to be innovative by creating their own businesses. Government will endeavour to create a conducive environment by training you so that you benefit from its ambitious programmes such as this one,” he said. He added that the government wants to develop skills among the young people, as they constitute over 70 percent of the country’s population. Meanwhile, ISTT Board Chairperson, Chizumba Shepande, said empowering young people with knowledge and skills is key to attaining sustainable economic development.
