Brown Health Medical Group, part of Providence, R.I.-based Brown University Health, will merge with Brown Physicians Inc. to improve patient access and care coordination. The merger is expected to be finalized Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 30 Brown University Health news release. As part of the conditions in the agreement, Brown University Health will take on 40,000 new primary care patients by Dec. 31, 2029, and hire up to 27 new primary care providers to increase care access. BPI is a multispecialty practice group led by faculty affiliated with Brown University’s medical school. Its six foundations — dermatology, emergency medicine, medicine, neurology, surgery and urology — will integrate into the Brown Health Medical Group, a physician-led multi-specialty group within Brown University Health.
