An offshore earthquake of magnitude 6.9 has killed at least 20 people as it collapsed walls of houses and buildings in a central Philippine province. Reynes appealed for food and water, saying San Remigio’s water system was damaged by the earthquake. In Bogo, the quake damaged concrete walls of houses, a fire station and concrete and asphalt roads, firefighter Rey Caete said. An earthquake has reportedly damaged a stone church in the town of Daanbantayan. The storm knocked out power in entire cities and towns and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people.
