Femke Beacom, who runs the Lisbellaw Veterinary Pet Clinic on Brook Street, will be in line for the nation's top vet prize in the Petplan Veterinary Awards for 2025 to be held in a ceremony in London. It has been a whirlwind 18 months for Femke when she struck out on her own to launch the practice. As for the nomination itself, Femke admits to being taken aback with the news. “I think the criteria for nominations is based on those behind the awards ceremony collecting a certain amount of nominations. But to be where I was five years when I was diagnosed, to have gotten to a place where you're running a veterinary clinic and you’re getting recognition for the job you’re doing, that’s just amazing.
