Connecticut is getting ready to enforce a new state law that adds new penalties for those participating in street takeovers and racing effective Oct. 1. The law allows up to two-year license suspensions and up to $2,000 fines for people involved in street takeovers. State law prohibits vehicles from driving or blocking public road or off-street parking lots open to the public, as well as racing, contests or demonstrations of speed or skill. With this new law, the state bans anyone from organizing, participating in or gathering to watch a street takeover. The CT Republicans said the takeovers have been causing serious injuries and that the people involved need to be held accountable.
