Officials have declared parts of Bangkok’s Nong Chok district rabies-infectious zones after a dog tested positive, triggering strict controls on animal movement. The Area 10 office of the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) announced yesterday, September 17, that the zones have been designated rabies infectious areas until October 16. Local officials are also stepping up vaccination drives for dogs and cats across the district. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but it can be prevented with timely vaccination. The DLD has urged cooperation from animal owners, reminding them that preventing the spread of rabies requires vigilance at the community level.
