Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with a massive theft ring involving more than $800,000 worth of smoke detectors stolen from Home Depot stores across Florida, authorities said. Home Depot estimated the losses at over $800,000, Uthmeier said. Uthmeier said the suspects share a combined total of over 170 previous charges between them. "We are proud that Florida doesn’t have stores with merchandise locked behind glass like you see in California, and we intend to keep it that way."
