Among a few other schools located within Shelby County, the Spain Park High School Percussion Ensemble is getting its chance to shine as it prepares to make a trip to Birmingham to perform at the Alabama Music Educators Conference in January 2026 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. “It’s an honor to be selected to perform,” said Richard Adams, director of the ensemble. The annual conference serves as a three-day professional development opportunity for music educators all over the state. In addition, the teachers are able to listen to the top ensembles from across Alabama as they perform concerts. “I also hope that this will open doors to other performance opportunities both in Alabama and out of state.”
