Putting on sandy greens proved quite a challenge as seniors engaged in a team scramble event Sept. 22 at La Contenta Golf Club in Valley Springs. Newly crowned club champ David Wood led the way for teammates Ray Pezzi, Orv Pense and Bill Sandberg. Multi-time club champ Orv Pense showed he is still a force to be reckoned with, as he was the leading money-winner of the day. The last group of second-place finishers consisted of newbie David Glover, world traveler Mike Johnson, fiery former fireman Dave Moyles and Gabe Karam. 13 from the whites, newbie Fred Starr lived up to his name by taking first over Dean.
