Article content“We are seeing widespread challenges within mental health and addictions, and appreciate that while we’ll want to try to work with the provincial government, because mental health and addictions, housing and homelessness, shelter operations is primarily their role,” said Knack. “ I think what’s important to note is that the city did take leadership by actually building housing, and build far more units of housing than ever before, and that’s important because at the end of the day, if you don’t have those spaces, those 24-7 spaces where people can get the mental health support and care that they need, they’ll find themselves back on the street.”
