Tomorrow was going to be the first day that Nez Perce County residents couldn’t use the garbage transfer station in North Lewiston. Commissioner Joe Gish confirmed that county residents will be allowed to use it as normal going forward. Right now it’s estimated to be 12% coming from the county and the rest from Lewiston and other city residents. Another possible change would be a separate scale for county-collection vehicles to go over that will keep an independent count. Once county residents have one, it should remove the need to show proof of residency.
